What is Digital Smile Design?
Digital Smile Design is a unique and certified protocol that offers a more detailed and accurate approach to treatment planning.
With DSD, your dentist uses state-of-the-art equipment, including a 3D intraoral scanner and digital photos, to get a more complete view of your teeth, gums, mouth and facial structure making it easier to design a smile based on your unique dental goals and needs.
Whether it's to restore or optimize your teeth, Digital Smile Design allows you to work with your dentist to design your ideal smile.
What are the DSD steps?
- High-resolution photos and videos of your smile and face are taken to fully understand the relationship between your lips, teeth, gums and mouth.
- Your facial analysis is then performed to help your dentist design a smile that naturally fits with your facial features.
- A personalized treatment plan is designed based on your goals and needs.
- A 3D mock-up is then created to allow you to literally try on your future smile.
- Once the mock-up and plan are approved, the final treatment can begin. The type of treatment received may include, depending on your specific needs, remodeling your teeth using aesthetic composite materials, remodeling your gums, installing crowns, implants, and/or dental facets, orthodontic treatment, teeth whitening.
